In April 2014 it was announced that Anakando subsidiary FilmOn Networks, had completed the acquisition of the CineBx Library, the world's largest privately owned film library.
Anakando has since incorporated FilmOn Media Libraries, as a wholly owned subsidiary to administer the CineBx library and other similar acquisitions.
The CineBx Library includes over 10,000 films and 10,000 hours of historical television footage. In total over 30,000 hours of content have been added to FilmOn's already substantial streaming television and video on demand film network, including rare classics by Stanley Kubrick, Federico Fellini, Ingmar Bergman and John Huston as well as never before seen footage of John F. Kennedy, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and the Beatles.
The CineBx Library contains over 40 catalogues such as those from Allied Entertainment, A1 Entertainment, Four Star, and HanVideo. The largest part of the CineBx collection is the Allied Entertainment Library. Highlights of the library include: John Cassavetes' seven lost films, rare features and shorts by Robert Altman, Stanley Kubrick and uncut versions of Orson Welles' films. Other directors include: John Ford, Frank Capra, John Huston, Roman Polanski, Bernardo Bertolucci, Federico Fellini, Alfred Hitchcock, Sydney Lumet, Ingmar Bergman, and Otto Preminger.
This acquisition marked a key stage in the Anakando Group’s ongoing strategy to license, acquire and preserve rare films and videos and make available unique content to the global audience of its FilmOn IPTV subsidiary. To date the company has invested over $25 Million in acquiring several major film libraries and is establishing a state of the art digitization and film restoration facility in Irvine, California.
The company has since made several other similar acquisitions including; the Cappy Film Library, the Hemdale Film Library and the Canon Film Library and is in the process of digitizing and cataloguing these invaluable media assets to be made available to its FilmOn audience in addition to other platforms like Amazon, Hulu and similar.
